Solar Decathlon China (SD China) has announced the final selections of 34 universities to participate in the inaugural SD China competition to be held in Datong, China in August 2013.
Associate Professor Guoxin Cao of the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering won second prize in science and technology at the 11th Peking University Teaching Skills Contest.

Recently, Prof. Xueqing Yan, Academician Jia-erh Chen and Academician Xiantu He from the School of Physics and the College of Engineering, Peking University, proposed laser driven plasma lens for profile shaping of laser pulse and published their paper “Laser Shaping of a Relativistic Intense, Short Gaussian Pulse by a Plasma Lens” on Physical Review Letters(PRL 107, 265002 (2011)).
The Peking University Forum on Student Financial Aid of 2011 announced on December 22 that the College of Engineering and 10 other institutes had won the “Award for Student Financial Aid Achievements in 2010-2011.”
The Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China recently published the “Statistical Data of Chinese S&T Papers of 2010.” In the section “Top 100 Most Cited Chinese Papers Published in International Journals,” Peking University was ranked top among the affiliations, with eight papers listed. Among them, four of the papers were first-authored by researchers from the College of Engineering.
Ten College of Engineering students received the Sharp scholarship for the academic year 2010-2011, totaling 50,000 RMB. The scholarship was awarded on December 17 by Nobuyuki Sugano, chairman and president of Sharp (China) Investment Co. Ltd.
IWEC2011 was successfully held in Kyoto on November 28-30, 2011. Professor Xinrong Zhang from the Deptartment of Energy and Resources Engineering was co-chairman of the workshop.
