The Peking University College of Engineering signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uruguayan Center of Molecular Imaging (CUDIM) on June 8 for research and education in molecular imaging and early cancer detection.

[ June 16, 2011] Singapore and PKU join hands for a sustainable low-carbon future

On June 10, a team of low carbon researchers from Peking University headed by College of Engineering Executive Vice Dean Dongxiao Zhang passed the final oral defense hosted by Singapore’s National Research Foundation, paving the way for the setup of the Singapore Peking University Research Centre for a Sustainable Low-Carbon Future (SPURc) by Peking University in Singapore.

[ June 15, 2011] Professors and students from U.S. Military Academy West Point visited the Intelligent Control Lab. Associate Professor Guangming Xie presented the lab’s research on underwater biomimetic robot fish.

[ June 14, 2011] COE students win first place in the National Petroleum Engineering Design Contest

Team Polyman, comprised of Peking University College of Engineering students including Xuan Liu, Zhijie Wei, and Xiang Li, took first place. Another COE team won the Excellence Award. COE Associate Professor Bin Gong was awarded with the title “Outstanding Instructor.”

On the evening of May 31, over 30 College of Engineering graduating seniors had their Capstone Design oral defense. Named “Design Night 2011,” this event provided an excellent opportunity for the students who had taken the course to demonstrate their design projects and products.

Nano Letters recently published College of Engineering professor Anyuan Cao’s and his group’s latest research and progress of solar cells: “Achieving High Efficiency Silicon-Carbon Nanotube Heterojunction Solar Cells by Acid Doping.”

[ June 05, 2011] BME undergraduates and this year’s visiting students from Georgia Tech gathered on May 20 to exchange ideas on biomedical engineering. Starting from 2010, the BME department began accepting eight undergraduates every year from GT for a three-month summer visiting program.

[ June 03, 2011] A new center for research on intelligent rehabilitation technology established

Co-founded by Peking University and Beijing Disabled Persons Association, the center will carry out studies on intelligent assistive limbs based on dynamic walking mechanism. The research will potentially benefit the disabled.

[ May 30, 2011] COE students won the championship in the 2011 China Robot Fish Competition after competing with 128 teams from 25 domestic and overseas universities. The competition was held in Chengdu from May 20-22.
