On September 25, Statoil China had a dialogue with the College of Engineering (COE) seeking cooperation possibilities.
Jens-Petter Kvarstein, Vice President Technology of Statoil China, Eivind Smorgrav, Leader EOR Simulation R&D of Statoil and Chaoyi Zeng, Administrative Officer of Statoil China paid a visit to COE and spoke with COE Executive Vice Dean Dongxiao Zhang.
Zhang introduced COE’s history, faculty composition and departments. He particularly talked about COE’s collaboration with world oil/gas companies and the research focus of the Petroleum Engineering Group. According to Zhang, COE has established close collaboration with a number of energy and technology companies around the world. The Petroleum Engineering Group, under the Department of Energy and Resources Engineering, is carrying out frontier research in many areas of the petroleum engineering and technology.
Kvarstein introduced that Statoil is a technology-driven multinational energy company with 20,000 employees and presence in 34 countries, headquartered in Norway. It has a history in China going back to the early 1980s. The Technology Development Office in China aims to establish research in China. Peking University is on its top list as potential partners.
After detailed discussions, the two parties found common interests in research, student internship and graduate recruitment. Both parties expressed that the meeting was informative and a good start.
