On January 20, organized by the Secretariat of the College of Engineering Alumni Association, the executive board of the association held its first meeting. Many board members attended the meeting and discussed some issues regarding the board itself and the college. In addition, as it’s also the 10th year since the College Student Union and Graduate Union were founded, many previous union presidents and members joined the meeting for a celebration. Ms. Yongmei Li, vice chairwoman and secretary general of the association presided over the event.

Mr. Zhili Sun, executive vice chairman of the Alumni Association first gave a work report. He introduced the main progress the Alumni Association has achieved in the past year, such as adding in 16 new members, electing Prof. Niancai Yu as the supervisor, and appointing several alumni as the industrial advisors to the student individuals. He also reviewed the major development of the College of Engineering in 2015.

After that, the alumni executive board members expressed their opinions and suggestions about the construction of the board, such as size control, election and quit mechanism of the board members, and the responsibilities of the members. The meeting also discussed many topics, including how the alumni may help boost innovation capability and entrepreneurship among the students, and ways for the college to provide poverty relief to Midu county of Yunnan Province.
