Peking University launched the “Ten Year’s Development of Biomedical Interdiscipline” exhibition on October 26. The exhibition celebrates the 99th anniversary of the former Peking Medical School, now Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC), and focuses on the development of biomedical interdiscipline at PKU over the past 10 years.
It is sponsored by PKUHSC, the Peking University College of Engineering (COE) and the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies.

Over 150 professors and students attended the exhibition’s opening ceremony at Ying-jie Overseas Exchange Center.
Since the merger between PKU and the original Peking Medical School, university leaders have attached greater importance to the interdisciplinary biomedical discipline. PKUHSC has established the Interdisciplinary Management Group, which has launched interdisciplinary communication platforms, including seminar series, and set up cross-disciplinary funds to support projects at PKU.
Among them, the Seed Grant of PKUHSC has made great impact on the development of biomedical engineering, said Professor Qiushi Ren, chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. . For example, the grant supports the BME Medicine-Engineering Integration Program, which has materialized the “Angiogenesis-targeted screening of small RNA molecules and functional studies.” In another instance, the program facilitated the industrialization and sales of the Special Light Endoscopy System developed by Professor Tianyu Xie at the BME department.

The exhibition will move to PKUHSC station, where an interdisciplinary study week will be held on October 26-29. Related experts will hold discussions on hypnosophy, medical informatics, cerebrovascular disease, digital modeling and oral orthodontics, treatment of radiation oncology, medical engineering and technology.
