    Congratulations to ExxonMobil Scholarship and Teaching Award Recipients of 2011

  • Ten College of Engineering students and five teachers have been awarded the ExxonMobil scholarship and Teaching Award of 2011, totaling 20,000 USD.

    On November 29, the awards were conferred by ExxonMobil Greater China & Japan Gas Marketing President Stephen S.F. Wong, witnessed by College of Engineering Dean Shiyi Chen.

    ExxonMobil has been a major supporter of the College of Engineering. Paul Theys, chairman of ExxonMobil (China) Investment Co., Ltd. And ExxonMobil Hong Kong Ltd., is a member of the COE Industrial Board. In 2007, ExxonMobil established the scholarship and teaching award of 20,000 USD to award students and teachers of excellence.

    Each year, 10 students receive scholarships jointly totaling 10,000 USD and 2-5 teachers receive awards totaling the same amount.

    Minjiang Gao is a final-year Ph.D. candidate who will receive the ExxonMobil Scholarship this year.

    “As I am actively seeking employment, the scholarship is a big boost.” Gao said.

    “Scholarship is an important part of our college,” said Yongmei Li, director of the Office of Development in the College of Engineering.“ For the students, it provides big support; for the company, it helps fortify its brand and expand its influence.”
