Peking University Alumni Association invited PKU alumni back to celebrate the university’s 114th anniversary on May 5.
PKU alumni were treated to “recollections of PKU in a tour of Yanyuan,” “a trip of culture,” and an “experience of body-building sports.”
At the gate of Peking University Khoo Teck Puat Gymnasium, each department set up a reception booth to welcome alumni and their families. The College of Engineering booth gave away souvenir T-shirts and quarterly periodicals featuring recent news and events. Alumni were also welcome to tour Assistant Professor Qining Wang’s Laboratory of Robots.
On May 4, over 30 COE Alumni Association Board Members conducted their annual board meeting at Peking University. Organized by the Office of Alumni Relations, the meeting provided an opportunity for board members to communicate with each other and COE.
Executive Vice Dean Dongxiao Zhang gave a detailed report of COE’s updates in faculty recruitment, scientific research, student education and industrial cooperation. The participants then offered suggestions on developing COE and promoting the alumni association.
The board approved four new members, including Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering Xiangwan Du (graduated1959), Member of Chinese Academy of Science Gendong Cheng (1964), Vice President of Gaosi Education Heng Chi (2008) and Jincai Zhang (1988), the latter whom donated 5 million RMB to COE.
The board also announced the establishment of the COE Alumni Fund, which the alumni, social groups and individuals may make donations for developing alumni relations.
Chao Gao, vice secretary of Peking University Alumni Association, said that the alumni relations have been “leaping forward” since the establishment of the Alumni Association in 2010.
