Recently, about 20 scholars from France, Germany, US, UK, Italy, Denmark, Russia, Israel and China attended the International Workshop on Virtual Materials held at Peking University. The workshop was chaired by Professor Mingwu Yuan from Peking University. Pierre Ladeveze and Professor Jianxiang Wang, Chair of Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering at the College of Engineering, were co-Chairman of the workshop.

The purpose of the workshop was to provide a forum for experts, researchers and developers from all over the world to present their latest research results in advanced composite materials and computational simulation. Renowned experts Pierre Ladeveze, Elias Cueto, Francisco Chinesta, L.Chamoin, William Curtin, Victor Eremeyev, Rui Huang, Adrien Leygue, B Schrefler, Ole Sigmund gave presentations on their latest research in the field of virtual materials.

Professor Jianxiang Wang, Professor Shaoqiang Tang, both from the College of Engineering, delivered presentations on the workshop. Their talks triggered discussions among the attendees and were well commended. The workshop has laid a good foundation for further international exchange and cooperation.
