On January 21, the College of Engineering (COE) held a year-end meeting and celebration for all the faculty and staff at Zhongguanyuan Global Village. Over 100 teachers participated in the event to jointly celebrate the achievement of last year and to welcome the arrival of new year.

Dean Dongxiao Zhang firstly summarized the college’s achievements in 2014. He thanked all the teachers who had made contributions to ensure the smooth undergoing of the International Peer Review process, in which an international committee of seven peer reviewers had provided a comprehensive and objective assessment of the college in terms of its research, teaching and development, threats and challenges, aiming to help the college set up a clear development direction and thus increase international competitiveness. Zhang also pointed out the College’s good performance in education globalization, research projects, publications, faculty recruitment, and teaching outcome, and expressed anticipation to better performance in the next year.

College Party Secretary Zhili Sun then reported the work of the Party Committee in the past year. The Labor Union made great efforts to enhance the quality of life for faculty and staff. The Office for Student Affairs also organized many activities to enrich the students’ college life. Sun wishes all the COEers a happy new year.

In the performance session, the teachers presented the audience a wonderful watching experience with a variety of programs, all directed and played by the COE faculty and staff themselves. The different types of programs, including dances, short play, and vocal solo won many applauses and acclaims from the audience.

The College of Engineering will be on winter recess from January 26 - February 25 to celebrate the Spring Festival. The College wishes its students, faculty and supporters a Happy New Year!
