GCGW 2014 made a special issue on “Global Warming and Energetic Solutions” in IJER

  • Recently, the International Journal of Energy Research published a special issue on “Global Warming and Energetic Solutions”. The issue was edited by Prof. Xinrong Zhang of the College of Engineering, Peking University. Link: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/er.v39.13/issuetoc

“The obvious influences of global warming on human being have significantly increased, such as glacier retreat, changes in agricultural productivity, extreme weather, sea level rise, food security, health damage and biodiversity loss. The global warming is caused by many complicated factors, which makes how to deal with global warming becomes very challenging from both aspects of science and technology. Battling global warming needs multi-disciplinary knowledge and solutions,” said Prof. Zhang in the editorial of the special issue.

Last year in May, with Prof. Zhang as the general chair, the 2014 Global Conference on Global Warming (GCGW) was held at Peking University. It is a multi-disciplinary international conference on the global warming and climate change issues and potential solutions. The GCGW2014 includes 8 keynote lectures, 26 invited talks for parallel panel sessions and specialized sessions. Over 200 science and engineering researchers from more than 40 countries attended the conference, covering extensive themes and global warming related topics.

“After successful holding of GCGW 2014, we compiled together high-quality papers and made this special issue in the International Journal of Energy Research (IJER). Thus, we selected over 20 papers on global warming and potential energy solutions to consider for a special issue in IJER entitled ‘Global Warming and Energetic Solutions’ and have finally ended up with an outstanding special issue with 10 unique, high-quality papers after going through a rigorous peer-reviewing process for this special issue to improve their quality further for readers of IJER,” said Zhang in the editorial.
