The College of Engineering organized a New Year Party for its faculty and staff on January 14 in Xin Kai Yuan Hotel. Over 100 teachers participated. Dean Shiyi Chen summarized COE’s achievement of 2011 and expressed appreciation to all the teachers. The party highlighted an organized art and music performance given by the teachers themselves.
In his speech, Chen summarized the College’s substantial progress last year in terms of education, research, faculty, international cooperation and entrepreneurship. He pointed out that many big events with global impact have been undertaken by the College, such as the Global Engineering Deans Council meeting and the Solar Decathlon China.
College Secretary Professor Wenchang Tan summarized the work of Labour Union and Student Affairs in the last year.
PKU Department of Organization Deputy Director Liping Liu also joined the party and delivered a speech.
Some teachers received awards of recognition for their outstanding achievements in teaching, research and community work in the last year.
With folk dance, drama, vocal solo, crosstalk and poem readings, the subsequent performance gave the audience a wonderful watching experience. All the programs were organized and played by the COE faculty and staff. All the six departments and many of the offices contributed to the programs.
