    Alumnus Quan Wang elected Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering

  • Recently, invited by the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE), the College of Engineering alumnus Quan Wang (94’) was appointed fellow of the academy.

    CAE comprises many of the country’s most accomplished engineers, who have expressed their dedication to the application of science and engineering principles in the interests of the country and its enterprises. The Academy is an independent, self-governing and non-profit organization established in 1987 to serve the nation in matters of engineering concern.

    The Academy is an active member of the International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS), which involves 26 leading countries.

    Members of the Academy are nominated and elected by their peers to honorary Fellowships, in view of their distinguished achievements and career-long service to the engineering profession.

    Dr. Quan Wang received his Bachelor’s degree from Department of Mechanics at Zhejiang University, and then pursued Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the Department of Mechanics at Peking University, both under the supervision of Prof. Dajun Wang. Dr. Quan Wang served as an associate professor in National University of Singapore, University of Florida in US, and University of Manitoba in Canada. He has been a Canada Research Chair since 2008. His research interests include Nano-mechanics, Structural Health Monitoring, Smart Materials and Structures, and Engineering Mechanics.
