    College of Engineering organizes a visit to Beijing Hyundai factory

  • Recently, College of Engineering organized a student delegation group to visit Beijing No.2 Hyundai Factory which is located in Shunyi District, Beijing. This activity was hosted by the graduate student association of College of Engineering, and 39 students from more than 10 departments participated in the activity.

    Ten O’clock in the morning, the student delegation group arrived in Hyundai Factory. Mr. Wei Jiang, the director of public relations department from Hyundai introduced the development and organization of Hyundai Company. After that, the director of Human Resource from Hyundai introduced their recruitment standard, promotion system and welfare.  

    During the forum, students from different departments raised many questions such as "the automobile exhaust emission design to achieve haze pollution prevention “and “New vehicle electronic equipment” based on their knowledge The director of technical department from Hyundai Company responded to all the questions. The interaction between students and the factory was very well.

    After the forum, students had a visit to the factory under the guidance of the staff. How to produce a car in the factory, and what large-scale line production looked like? All these questions were completely new for the students. Once they entered the workshop of Hyundai Factory, they were all attracted by the huge yellow robot, light blue floor, and the complicated equipment. “I feel like being in a transformers world,” one student marveled.

    A whole car, according to the production procedure, had to experience the stamping, welding, painting, and assembly of four workshops to be eventually finished. The welding workshop takes the responsibility of welding all the parts into a white car body. After that, the white body went to the painting workshop through an air channel. The car would be painted there. Then, through the air channel the car was sent to the assembly workshop to install adornment, powertrain, electronics assembly, and doors etc. Finally, the car went to inspect from the OK Line.

    Three O’ Clock in the afternoon, visiting activity was finished successfully. This activity aimed to provide an on-site experience for students to feel the enterprise culture and to observe the automobile production. Also, it provided the opportunity for the students to learn from the management and scientific personnel of an advanced enterprise.
