    Dean of College of Engineering Dongxiao Zhang visits Baotou Research Institute

  • A delegation led by Dean of College of Engineering (COE) Dongxiao Zhang and Associate Dean of China Shenhua Science and Technology Research Institute Ke Liu visited Baotou Research Institute recently to learn about the institute’s recent development. The delegation was warmly received by Duoxiang Wang, Associate Dean of COE and Vice Mayor of Baotou City, and Yongjiang Pang, Executive Director of Baotou Institute.

    Located in the Baotou Equipment Park in Inner Mongolia, the Baotou Institute of COE was co-built by Baotou Municipality and Peking University, with an aim to exert the natural resources and industrial advantages of Baotou and combine the technological advantages of Peking University to carry out application research on rare earth materials, energy materials, LED industrial technology, environmental technology and equipment manufacturing, as well as to cultivate innovative ideas and talents.

    The delegation visited twelve institutes and laboratories of the Baotou Institute, and heard a detailed report from Vice Mayor Duoxiang Wang about the institute’s development progress, research projects, connection with enterprises and future direction. Dean Zhang spoke highly of the results the institute has achieved, and discussed with the administration about its future development.

    Zhang pointed out that Batou Institute is a good exploration of COE’s effort in technology transfer and entrepreneurship. He hoped the institute can continue the exploration and achieve more success.
