    Ecole Polytechnique Vice Presidents visit the College of Engineering

  • On October 12, Frank Pacard, vice president for academic affairs and research, and Christophe de Beauvais, vice president for external relations, both from ?cole Polytechnique, France visited the College of Engineering to discuss cooperation possibilities in scientific research and student exchange programs. They were warmly received by Dongxiao Zhang, dean of the College of Engineering, and Pingchou Han, assistant dean for international relations.

    The ?cole Polytechnique Vice Presidents introduced about the institute, mentioning that with a long history of over 200 years, Polytech has a long tradition of excellence in training industrial and publish leaders. It offers a broad range of disciplines covering science, engineering science, human and social sciences and languages. As a member of the ParisTech Research and Higher Education Cluster (PRES), it already has some student exchange with Peking University, but hopes to expand the relation.

    Dean Zhang made an introduction to the College of Engineering (COE) of its departments, faculty members and current international relations. He pointed out that there could be a good potential for exploring student exchange programs, due to the fact that COE has many similarities with Polytech in terms of disciplines. Then Professor Han introduced in particular the Globex Summer Program of COE and discussed in details the possible way of student exchange that would be suitable and good for both the institutions.
