The fifteen jury members of the Solar Decathlon China (SDC) 2013 completed their intensive evaluation and scoring work recently. They spoke highly of the SDC solar houses.
The fifteen jury members, coming from China, US and Germany, are all professionals and experts in their fields. They are divided into teams of three to evaluate the 19 competing houses in five contests, namely, architecture, engineering, communications, market viability and solar applications. They said that they have made difficult choices when giving scores, as many of the houses are performing very well.
Professor Hao Wang in the field of heat transfer and energy efficiency from the College of Engineering, Peking University is one of the jury of Engineering. He was impressed with the overall high quality and diversity of the houses and particularly surprised by the performance of Chinese teams.
Dr. Yunsheng Su from Tongji University is a jury of Market Appeal. He said that many of the houses have great potential of marketing, and the top fifteen houses have been advanced developed in marketability and also very close in contests.
The SDC organizing committee and government of Datong city gave thanks to the jury. Dr. PR Yu, director of SDC and professor from College of Engineering, Peking University awarded certificates to them.
