Peking University-University of Delaware GLOBEX Agreement Signed

  • Peking University and University of Delaware launched their Global Educational Exchange Initiative (GLOBEX) agreement on December 1. The agreement is for a three-year program beginning in 2012 that would allow students from both universities to study in the other’s institute for a one-semester duration.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by PKU College of Engineering Dean Shiyi Chen and UD Interim Dean of Engineering Babatunde Ogunnaike.

According to the agreement, UD will allow a maximum of six PKU undergraduate students to come and spend one semester at UD, and in turn, PKU will take in a maximum of six UD undergraduate students for a 6-week summer program at PKU. Further, tuition and all miscellaneous fees for GLOBEX students will be mutually waived by both universities. GLOBEX will also support selected UD faculty to come and deliver courses on PKU campus and carry out joint research collaboration with local PKU professors.

“Based on our experience with the Cross-Cultural Capstone Design Programs with foreign universities, I believe GLOBEX will greatly benefit COE undergraduates,” said Professor Pingchou Han, assistant dean for Global Education at PKU College of Engineering and the head  the GLOBEX Initiative. “Apart from Delaware, we are also in negotiation with several other US universities.”
